About
Since December 1973, the Aspen Jewish Congregation has served as a spiritual home for families across the Roaring Fork Valley. What began with a Chanukah gathering at the Community Church has grown into a center for Judaism that spans from Aspen and Snowmass Village to Basalt, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs. We embrace a big-tent philosophy, offering accessible, joyful rituals that honor tradition while connecting us to each other and the mountains.
Our programming reflects this inclusive spirit. Adults engage in Aspen Jewish Conversations, exploring ideas about identity and public life with leading thinkers. Families gather for Friday Camp for kids, while adults enjoy various community events and Shabbat services. A highlight of our calendar is Mountaintop Shabbat, where we join the Jewish bluegrass band Jacob’s Ladder for a service followed by dance and music, with breakfast provided. We also host Camp Bashert Shabbat at a private property along the Roaring Fork River, featuring Elul Cocktails and family fun.
Jewish or Jewish-curious, seasonal resident or long-time local, you are welcome here. We aim to create a sense of connection and belonging through learning experiences that are grounded in tradition yet relevant to modern life. Join us anytime for a Shabbat service, a concert on Aspen Mountain’s Meadow, or one of our many gatherings hosted in Missouri Heights and the Pitkin County Health & Human Services Building.
