Carbondale Clay Center

A non-profit hub for the ceramic arts in the Roaring Fork Valley, Carbondale Clay Center offers classes for adults, children, and families alongside outreach programs with local organizations. The facility features a ceramic gallery and retail space that hosts rotating exhibitions of local, regional, and national artists, occasionally showcasing work in other mediums. A key component of the center is its ceramic artist residency program, which supports emerging and established ceramic artists through shared studio space, teaching opportunities, and professional development. Residents receive access to approximately 200 square feet of studio space, 24-hour facility access, and assistance with housing and networking. The residency program typically accommodates up to two residents at a time for periods ranging from one to three months, with terms running from September 1st to August 31st. Short-term residency options are currently available as part of a fundraising campaign to rebuild the center in its current location. The center is funded through earned revenue, grants, and contributions from individuals and businesses throughout the region.
