Parker and Mary Carlson planted their first vines in 1981, launching a family-owned winery that has become a staple of the Palisade high desert. Since establishing their winery in a repurposed 1930s fruit packing shed seven years later, Carlson Vineyards has earned hundreds of awards locally, nationally, and internationally, including double golds and the World Cup Riesling Award. The winery’s philosophy centers on approachable, easy-drinking wines crafted from locally grown grapes and fruit, designed to be unpretentious and paired with good food. Current owner Garrett, who began working at the winery in of 2011, continues this legacy while adding his own influence to the brand. Visitors can experience this history and these award-winning wines at the Carlson Vineyards Downtown Tasting Room in Grand Junction, offering a convenient stop for sampling their portfolio away from the main production facility.
