We opened our doors in 1967, establishing a residential campus perched at 6,916 feet on the Western Slope. Our students graduate with Mt Sopris standing tall behind them, surrounded by state-of-the-art facilities that support hands-on learning. We offer over 50 degrees and certificates, including Business, Nursing, Veterinary Technology, Outdoor Education, Professional Photography, Elementary Education, Sustainability Studies, and Graphic Design. The Isaacson School for Communications, Arts, and Media makes us the main campus hub, while the award-winning Sopris Theatre Company brings live performance to our stage. Our Nursing Education Center features high-fidelity simulation labs, and our 220-acre veterinary farm supports large and small animal studies. Students utilize the 38-foot climbing wall, one of the tallest on the Western Slope, and engage with our Challenge Course for team-building. We provide access to 18-hole disc golf, over seven miles of mountain bike trails, and proximity to fishing, hiking, climbing, and skiing. Our Green Team drives sustainability through composting, recycling, ground-source heat pumps for the residence hall, and a free shuttle between campuses. In 2009, we joined the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. We recently hosted a TEDxColorado Mountain College production, continuing our tradition of hosting impactful events. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1 and nearly half our students receiving financial aid, we remain the most affordable public four-year degree in Colorado.
