Durango Public Transit System

Durango Transit operates fixed-route bus service across the city limits, connecting key destinations like Walmart and Mercy Regional Medical Center with dedicated routes that run every 30 minutes. Route 3 serves the Walmart corridor, while the new Route 5 provides direct access to Mercy Hospital, Three Springs, Wilson Gulch, and Escalante Drive, featuring a timed transfer point at Walmart to minimize missed connections. The system also supports the Opportunity Bus, a door-to-door paratransit service designed for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Beyond standard transit, the agency manages discounted pass programs for local human service agencies and businesses to distribute to their clients and employees. Durango Transit has earned recognition for its operational excellence, including the Large Community Transit Agency of the Year award from the Colorado Association of Transit Agencies (CASTA) and the 2025 Fun in Transit Award.
