Our first broadcast hit the airwaves on February 2nd, 2003, marking the start of KHEN 106.9 FM’s journey as a volunteer-supported community radio station in Salida, Colorado. Tenderfoot Transmitting, Inc., our 501(c)(3) parent organization, has guided us to become a media platform driven by the people we serve. We operate as a grassroots station, offering diverse music, news, and informational programming that highlights local voices and topics you won’t find on major networks. Our mission centers on building community through education, outreach, and bold, inclusive programming that reflects the unique character of Chaffee County.

We pride ourselves on being an independent voice, speaking with integrity and staying nimble in response to current events.
