Lory State Park offers recreational activities and preserves the area's unique rock formations, meadows, and forests. The park's history dates back to ancient times, with evidence of human presence from the Paleo period to the late Ceramic period, and later served as a buffer zone for Native American tribes and a settlement area for trappers, traders, and settlers. The park was officially named in 1975, honoring Dr. Charles A. Lory, and is managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife as one of the state's many public access areas.
