National Repertory Orchestra

NRO Music Director Michael Stern leads a seasonal ensemble of 80 young professional musicians who perform in Breckenridge, Colorado. The orchestra has operated for more than 65 years as a training ground for classical music leaders, attracting over 800 applicants annually from leading conservatories and graduate programs. These fellows undergo rigorous training to prepare for careers in major symphonies worldwide. The 2026 Summer Music Festival, titled American Adventures, celebrates the United States’ 250th anniversary and Colorado’s 150th with music exploring exploration, imagination, and the open road. Beyond the concert hall, NRO musicians engage with Summit County through performances in neighborhoods, parks, plazas, libraries, and classrooms. The orchestra’s educational outreach and community engagement programs highlight its role in developing 21st-century musicians while providing unforgettable performances for diverse audiences.
