WHAT
Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
WHERE
Fruita, Colorado.
WHEN
Until 415 PM MDT.
IMPACTS
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Narrow canyons and steep, dry washes can become raging currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall. Do not attempt hiking or canyoneering.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- At 309 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.3 and 0.6 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Devils Canyon, Little Salt Wash, and Big Salt Wash down to the Colorado River. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
