    About This Event

Nestled along the Yampa River in Steamboat Springs, the Yampa River Botanic Park is a free, six-acre public garden featuring more than 60 distinct gardens, tranquil ponds, winding pathways, benches, and outdoor art. What began in 1992 as a flat horse pasture has grown into one of Northwest Colorado’s most beloved destinations for visitors and locals alike. Conveniently located just off Highway 40 and the Yampa River Core Trail, the Park is an easy stop for those exploring Steamboat Springs on foot, bike, or by car.

Sitting at 6,800 feet above sea level, the Botanic Park showcases the beauty and resilience of high-elevation gardening. Carefully designed microclimates support a diverse collection of plants from across the Yampa River Basin, ranging from alpine species found at 12,000 feet to plants native to lower river valleys. Each garden reflects its own slope, sun exposure, soil, and plant palette, offering inspiration for home gardeners while highlighting native and adaptive plant species. Most plants are labeled, making the Park both a relaxing retreat and an educational resource.

The Yampa River Botanic Park is free and open to the public from May through October and truly offers something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy peaceful moments in nature, attend a wide variety of programs such as yoga, outdoor concerts, and children’s story time, or gather with friends and family for community events throughout the summer. The Park also serves as a scenic and affordable outdoor wedding and event venue, offering a naturally beautiful setting for celebrations of all sizes. Whether you are a gardener, a wellness enthusiast, a family with young children, or simply seeking a quiet place to unwind, the Park provides a welcoming space to connect with nature in the heart of Steamboat Springs.
