Each week, The Forum hosts a speaker who shares a topic of interest to the community. The forum is free and open to all who are interested in Montrose and the surrounding Western Slope communities. The Forum meets on Wednesdays (except during major holiday weeks) at Colorado Mesa University – Montrose in Cascade Hall, south of Montrose Library at the corner of S 3rd Street and S Cascade Ave.
Join us on Wednesday, April 29th, at 9:00 am, as we explore one of the most talked-about and often misunderstood topics of our time: Artificial Intelligence.
We are excited to welcome back Tom Sawyer, a highly popular instructor with the Lifelong Learners program at Colorado Mesa University. Tom brings clarity, enthusiasm, and knowledge to complex topics. This non-technical presentation will define artificial intelligence, explore its history and development, and explain key concepts and terms in an accessible way.
Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is a field of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent software and machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. It may sound like something out of science fiction, but it is already part of our daily lives. From the recommendations we see on Netflix and Amazon to voice assistants like Siri and Alexa, AI is quietly shaping how we work, live, and connect with one another.
Whether you are curious, cautious, or simply want to better understand what AI means for you and your family, this presentation will offer practical, relatable, and thought-provoking insights. We hope to see you on April 29th at 9 o’clock.
