
Montrose County Assessor Brad Hughes provides an overview of the significant property tax changes taking place in Colorado over the past several years and into the future.
This discussion will include the background behind 2024 legislation, the removal of the 2025 actual valuation adjustment, and the implementation of the 2025 split assessment rates for residential property. He will also provide details on the 2026 actual value adjustments, which apply a 10 percent reduction on the first $700,000 of residential value. There will also be a brief overview of newly enacted property tax revenue growth caps and details on the gradual reduction of the non-residential assessment rates.
The program will conclude with the Montrose County Treasurer Rosemary Murphy discussing how taxes are collected and distributed.
