Randy Ford guided the first permitted ice fishing trip at Lake Dillon in 2013, establishing a legacy that now defines Alpine Fishing Adventures. Operating from the center of Summit County in Dillon, Colorado, we provide guided boat charters on pontoon boats, fly fishing trips along the Blue River and Snake River, and heated ice fishing huts during the winter months. Our operations begin May 15th at Green Mountain Reservoir and expand to Dillon Reservoir for Memorial Day weekend, covering both locations with shore fishing and walk-and-wade options when boat trips aren't feasible.

Lake Dillon sits at 9,017 feet, mimicking an alpine environment surrounded by peaks over 13,000 feet high. The reservoir receives runoff from nearby ski resorts including Breckenridge, Keystone, A-Basin, and Copper Mountain. This unique ecosystem supports rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, arctic char, and wild brown trout. We stock approximately 30,000 catchable trout annually while maintaining self-sustaining populations of the other species. Arctic char, stocked between 2008 and 2015, are a targetable catch here, as they are in only two or three places on the mainland United States. Kokanee salmon have reproduced naturally for over 40 years, offering hard fighting action despite their smaller size.

Our guides leverage Randy’s 35 years of local knowledge to help anglers of all skill levels, including families with children six and younger who fish for free. We operate year-round, adapting to the lake’s freeze-up in early November and thaw in early May. Whether targeting state record-sized arctic char or enjoying mild summer weather, our fully equipped charters ensure a complete fishing experience for every guest.
