Aspen Community Church

Dedicated in 1890, Aspen Community Church stands as one of the town’s most distinctive architectural landmarks. Built from Frying Pan Valley sandstone, its massive structure features a large round tower and buttresses that evoke the style of an ancient castle. The interior balances this imposing exterior with poetic details, including oaken pews and colorful stained-glass windows. A great white cornerstone contrasts sharply with the red walls, encasing a vault that holds a Bible, official Presbyterian newspapers, and the names of the original workmen.

Aspen Community Church operates as a Reconciling Congregation within The United Methodist Church, welcoming all persons regardless of race, nationality, economic status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or gender identity. The congregation emphasizes traditional worship alongside a strong commitment to community outreach and learning.

Accessibility is central to the church’s design. The west entrance leads directly into the fellowship hall without steps, accommodating wheelchairs and mobility devices. An elevator in the northeast corner provides clear access to the second-floor sanctuary, where seating is arranged for full participation.
