Aspen Cross Country Center

Ute Mountaineer has owned and operated the Aspen Cross Country Center for 38 winters, establishing it as Aspen’s only full-service cross country ski and snowshoe hub. Situated directly on the trails at the Aspen Golf Course, the center serves as a convenient base within the Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Trail System. Visitors access more than 90 kilometers of free trails right outside the front door, which weave across fields, over rivers, and through aspen and pine valleys connecting Aspen to Snowmass Village. The facility provides demo gear, lessons, and guided tours for all skill levels, alongside a retail shop stocked with equipment. Expert ski tuning and repair services are available in-house, supported by a public waxing room for independent skiers. Men’s and women’s locker rooms offer convenience after long days on the snow. The center’s lounge invites guests to relax with hot drinks and snacks, complemented by cross country videos and reading material. Operating seven days a week with hours varying from 9am to 5pm depending on the day, it remains open Monday through Friday and weekends. The trail system itself benefits from voter-approved funding by Pitkin County Open Space and Trails, ensuring well-maintained paths for skate and classic skiing, winter walking, and even dog-friendly routes.
