We have called this spot home since 1914, when our predecessors homesteaded the land as Watzling’s Resort with just four rustic cabins and a general store for local miners. Now, the Schumacher family welcomes thousands of guests yearly to our 61 cabins and vacation homes in historic Almont, Colorado. Situated on the Taylor River near its confluence with the East River, we offer accommodations ranging from cozy one-bedroom retreats to spacious six-bedroom homes, plus lodge rooms and twelve RV sites. Our guests enjoy private hot tubs and fireplaces in their cabins, or they can explore the Gunnison National Forest right outside our door. Through Three Rivers Outfitting, we provide experienced guides for whitewater rafting, fly fishing, and kayaking, alongside our on-site Orvis Fly Shop. We also help you book downhill skiing at Crested Butte and Monarch, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. Beyond lodging, our property features a restaurant, general store, dance hall, and outdoor pavilion, making us a complete destination between Gunnison and Crested Butte.
