Bill Swartz has been flying since 1968 and instructing since 1974, offering flight training for airplanes and helicopters out of the Montrose Colorado Regional Airport in Olathe. His career spans military service as an Air Force helicopter mechanic and Army pilot flying UH-1s and CH-47s, to roles as a Continental Express and Continental Airlines simulator instructor. He served as a Chief Flight Instructor and Line Check Airman, and was instrumental in establishing Mountain Blade Runner Helicopters as Chief Pilot and Director of Operations. Swartz holds an Airline Transport Pilot rating with type ratings in aircraft ranging from the ATR-42 to the Falcon D50, and helicopters including the BH204 and BV107. He is a Gold Seal Flight Instructor for Airplane SEL & MEL, Rotorcraft-Helicopter, and Instrument Airplane and Helicopter. With over 25,000 total hours, including 8,380 as an instructor, he teaches mountain flying in everything from jets to light single-engine airplanes. His extensive experience covers diverse weather conditions globally, and he previously flew for Tristate Careflight at the Montrose Hospital and Heli-Qwest.
