Bookcliff Gardens

Ed Settle launched Bookcliff Gardens in 1968, beginning with greenhouse tomatoes and carnations sold to local markets. The operation evolved through the 1970s as Bill Settle joined to manage greenhouses, leading to the addition of nursery stock and garden goods. Dennis Hill and Dan Komlo later co-owned the business from the mid-1980s until October 2019, when Rick and Stephanie Griggs took over ownership. Today, the Grand Junction nursery carries hardy shade trees, flowering shrubs, perennials, bedding plants, lush houseplants, and seasonal farm-fresh produce. Customers browse lawn and gardening supplies, compost, mulch, fertilizer, and pest control solutions while interacting with the resident parrot, Baby. The staff, including Colorado Certified Nursery Professionals, provides expert advice on landscape design, construction, and maintenance for both commercial and residential clients. Services extend to winter snow removal and specialized container design, such as filling whiskey barrels with stunning floral arrangements. Visitors often spend time wandering the aisles, admiring hanging baskets and unique displays like horse-potted plants, while receiving personalized care for replanting sentimental specimens.
