About
Our underground winery sits in Palisade, overlooking the Bookcliff Mountains and the Colorado River, built on the site of the oldest commercial vineyard in Colorado. Founded in 1978, we were the first to produce and sell wines made exclusively from Colorado grapes. Richard and Padte Turley run the operation daily, bringing over 50 years of combined industry experience that spans grape growing, production, wholesale, and retail. We grow our own grapes and fruit, keep bees for our honey wines, and handle everything from fermentation to bottling and delivery. Our facility holds over 29,000 gallons of capacity, producing around 12,000 cases annually. We craft more than 30 types of wines, including varietal grapes, fruit wines, meads, ports, whimsical blends like RoadKill Red, and champagnes. We also produce dozens of wine-based food items. The original building remains carved into the hillside, a testament to our history since the early days of the Colorado Limited Winery Act. We have been instrumental in shaping the state’s wine industry, assisting with the creation of the Grand Valley American Viticulture Area in 1991 and serving on boards like the Colorado Wine Industry Development Board. Our family’s roots in Colorado stretch back to 1824, connecting us deeply to the region’s history.
