About
Our satellite office in Grand Junction serves Western Slope residents as part of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, one of 16 cabinet-level departments appointed by the governor. Executive Director Jill Hunsaker Ryan leads our mission to advance Colorado’s health and protect the places where we live, learn, work, and play. We provide evidence-based public health services that promote healthy people in healthy places, focusing on chronic disease prevention, infectious disease control, family planning, and injury and suicide prevention. Our team also handles health statistics, vital records, health facilities licensure, laboratory services, and emergency preparedness. For our local community, we monitor air quality, including daily ozone pollution forecasts issued by our Air Pollution Control Division during summer months, and track radon levels, the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in Colorado. We offer free COVID-19 testing, treatment, and vaccines across the state and assist residents in locating skilled nursing facilities and assisted living residences. Our satellite office ensures that Coloradans have meaningful access to our programs, promoting health equity and environmental justice for all residents. With approximately 1,746 employees statewide, our Grand Junction location remains a key hub for delivering these essential services to the Western Slope.
