Crested Butte Museum

Since finding its forever home at Tony’s Conoco in 2003, the Crested Butte Museum has served as a town hub where history, ideas, and stories are shared in a thoughtful, inclusive environment. We preserve and celebrate the rich cultural history of Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley through engaging exhibits, educational programming for all ages, and historic walking tours of Elk Avenue. Our collections tell the story of local citizens who created the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum in 1993 to address the urgent need for a place to preserve artifacts and stories. Visitors can explore our displays, join us for an event, or experience history at home through our recordings. We also offer a Museum Store with discounts for members and provide membership benefits that include free admission, discounted event rates, and exclusive content. Our work is never finished because history is continuous, and we are dedicated to connecting people to the past, the place, and each other.
