Over the Edge Sports opened its doors in Fruita on April 23, 1995, transforming a nearly abandoned 90-year-old building into a hub for the region's burgeoning mountain bike culture. The shop sits at the center of a network of singletrack trails carved out north of town along 18 Road, serving as both a retail destination and a service center for the Western Slope. Their technicians specialize in rapid turnaround suspension repairs, handling fork and shock services as well as dropper post maintenance, often completing work in days rather than weeks. The inventory extends beyond standard bike sales to include custom cycling apparel, accessories like pedals and grips, and the shop's own branded stickers. This local focus has grown into an international footprint, with partner stores in Hurricane, Utah; Melrose, South Australia; and Todos Santos, Baja California. The business also hosts the annual Fruita Fat Tire Festival, celebrating its role in establishing the area as a global mountain biking destination.
