Grand Junction Convention Center

Built in 1923 by publishing giant Walter Walker, the Grand Junction Convention Center stands as a historic landmark in downtown Grand Junction. Originally named through a community contest, the Avalon Theatre derives its name from the Welsh word for apple, reflecting the region's early identity as a thriving apple production hub. Today, this 600-seat venue operates under the management of Oak View Group, hosting a diverse calendar of live entertainment and performances.

The center maintains strict house rules to ensure safety and security for all patrons. A clear bag policy permits tote bags no larger than 12 by 8 by 12 inches, one-gallon clear plastic bags, and small purses under 5 by 8 inches. Medical requirements and diaper bags with children are exempt from the clear bag restriction, though outside food and beverages remain prohibited. Patrons must hold a ticket regardless of age, sit in designated reserved seats, and wear shirts and shoes. Smoking is allowed only in specific areas, while professional video cameras, tripods, laser pointers, and air horns are banned. Firearms and illegal drugs are also prohibited.

Events range from concerts to community gatherings, with re-entry not permitted once a patron exits.
