Groundhog Lake RV Park and Campground

Permanently closed as of November 15, 2024, Groundhog Lake RV Park and Campground served as the former concessioner for Groundhog Reservoir in Dolores, Colorado. For roughly two decades, the facility hosted families seeking outdoor activities across all seasons, featuring a small general store where visitors purchased fishing intelligence, worms, and ice. Staff member Bonnie was frequently cited for her helpfulness in managing the store. While the grounds offered camping with hookups, some guests noted these needed upgrades for newer RV models. Even when lake levels dropped, fishing remained a highlight, with anglers catching fish between 10 and 14 inches. Today, inquiries regarding the property are directed to the Montezuma Valley Irrigation Company.
