About
Our 10-acre converted hay meadow sits just 1.5 miles southeast of downtown Gunnison, behind Jorgenson Park and the Pioneer Museum, offering a unique blend of agricultural quiet and recreational access. The I Bar Ranch operates as an authentic western heritage event center, hosting weddings, concerts, and private gatherings from May through October. Our converted hay barn features a stage, lighting, and sound system, with open sides for fresh air and curtains available for inclement weather. We can seat up to 515 people for these community-oriented events. The venue is located 250 feet off Tomichi Creek at the base of ‘W’ Mountain, with the Colorado DOW managing the buffer land for fly fishing and equestrian opportunities. The I Bar brand itself has deep roots, originating with William Clark Howard, who began using it in the early 1900s after driving horse teams from Lake City to Creede. Three generations of the Howard family have preserved the brand, with current ownership under Gunnison Valley Properties, LLC. The venue itself was first built and operated by Dick Bratton and Gary McCorkhill in 1993.
