Michael Klein Music Tent and Harris Concert Hall

Founded in 1949, our eight-week summer season transforms Aspen into a hub for classical music, hosting hundreds of concerts, recitals, chamber pieces, and operas. We are one of the world's best training programs for emerging artists, welcoming nearly 500 young musicians each year to study with over 100 artist-faculty members from leading orchestras and music schools. These students play in four orchestras, sing, conduct, compose, and perform side by side with their highly accomplished teachers. Our alumni roster includes renowned figures such as Joshua Bell, Renée Fleming, and Philip Glass, alongside former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS program, launched in 2021 under the co-artistic direction of Renée Fleming and Patrick Summers, trains young singers for careers in opera and concert work. With nine programs of study, we offer intensive one-on-one instruction alongside professional performance experience. Students rehearse major repertoire with principal players from major orchestras, including those of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and Philadelphia. Whether participating in the orchestral experience or concentrating on conducting, composition, contemporary music, classical guitar, chamber music, and collaborative piano, our students step into an extraordinary musical world. We have presented thousands of concerts over our 77-year history, creating a place where young artists meet their mentors and find themselves.
