Founded in 1998, Thunder River Outfitters guides fly fishing on Colorado's Western Slope, honoring the Roaring Fork River that Ute Native Americans called Thunder River. We operate out of Basalt, offering year-round guided trips on the Roaring Fork, Colorado, Crystal, and Frying Pan Rivers. Our primary vessels are drift boats, which allow us to access private waters and float stretches of the Roaring Fork, described as arguably the best freestone fishery in the West. We also guide float trips on the Colorado River from Glenwood Springs to Parachute, known for big, tough fish. All skill levels are welcome, from first-timers to avid anglers, and we provide all necessary equipment and tackle. Owner Lincoln Neiley grew up floating these rivers with his father, bringing decades of experience to every excursion. We treat the rivers with respect, offering sustainable fishing practices and a low-impact approach to the ecosystem. Guests staying in Aspen, Vail, or the Front Range enjoy convenient day trips on the water.
