Montrose Rod & Gun Club

Incorporated in 1953 by local shooting enthusiasts, the Montrose Rod and Gun Club has evolved from a small gathering of marksmen into a comprehensive facility spanning both indoor and outdoor ranges. The club acquired its current property in 1976, adding an outdoor rifle range and trap field by 1978. Subsequent expansions included skeet shooting facilities and restrooms in 1984, while the indoor range and clubhouse at 1211 6450 Road were constructed between 1979 and 1983. The indoor facility retains much of its original craftsmanship, featuring separated areas for pistol, rifle, and shotgun shooting protected by berms and covered benches. While operating as a private club, the venue actively hosts public events and educational opportunities, including a notable junior shooting program and hunter safety courses. These offerings allow members and guests to engage with marksmanship traditions while supporting community learning.
