Since 1973, Mountain Trip has guided climbers through the San Juan Mountains and beyond. Our AMGA-accredited business began as a small Alaskan mountaineering school and now operates globally, leading expeditions to Denali, Mount Everest, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, and the Seven Summits. We hold the distinction of being the longest continually operating Denali guide service, having guided climbers on North America’s highest peak since 1976. Based in Telluride and Ouray, we offer a diverse range of programs including rock climbing at local crags like Black Canyon of the Gunnison and Unaweep Canyon, backcountry skiing, mountaineering courses, and ice climbing instruction at the world-famous Ouray Ice Park. Our unique Via Ferrata tours in Telluride and Ouray provide fixed-safety cable adventures accessible to families, first-timers, and experienced enthusiasts. Tackling a moderate 14er hike or a technical peak ascent, our AMGA-trained and certified guides bring decades of real-world experience to every objective. We help climbers develop the skills, confidence, and judgment required for success in challenging mountain environments, from local cliffside adventures to international alpine objectives.
