Museum of the Mountain West

The Museum of the Mountain West occupies a 6-acre property in Montrose, Colorado, dedicated to educating visitors of all ages about the history and culture of the American West. Founder and Executive Director Richard E. Fike leads the institution, which was recently recognized by True West Magazine readers as the "Best Western History Collector" for 2025. The site features 28 historical buildings and houses over half a million artifacts, offering both guided and self-guided tours across its grounds. Visitors can explore indoor displays and historic structures before browsing the on-site gift and antique store. The museum is open Monday through Saturday and is accessible to wheelchairs, with credit cards accepted for purchases.
