New Sheridan Hotel

Opened in 1891 just four years after Telluride was founded, the New Sheridan Hotel stands as the town’s sole historic hotel, its current brick structure rebuilt in 1895 following a fire that destroyed the original wood-frame building. Situated in the shadow of the San Juan Mountains, the property underwent a complete renovation in 2008 under British designer Nina Campbell, who preserved the Victorian style through fine furnishings, archival photos of silver and gold miners, and original details like the carved mahogany bar and brass chandeliers in the Famous Historic Bar. Guests dine at three distinct venues: The Chop House & Wine Bar, praised for its steaks and wine selection; The Parlor; and The Roof. The hotel also features four bars in total, including the historic bar with its beveled and lead glass panels. This historic lodging option continues to welcome guests to its renovated spaces, maintaining the authentic quality of its mining-era origins.
