Old Hundred Gold Mine Tour

We take visitors 1/3 mile into Galena Mountain for a guided journey through the Old Hundred Gold Mine. Our tour features a ride on a vintage electric-powered mine train, utilizing an authentic miner's "man-trip" car once used at the famous Camp Bird Gold Mine. Inside, you follow the vein to see real mining equipment in action, including air-powered drills, slushers, and mucking machines dating back to the 1930s. We blast through solid volcanic rock to reveal colorful minerals and crystals, while our covered picnic area offers a place to relax. A highlight of the experience is panning for real silver, copper, and gold in our sluice box; this activity is included with your ticket purchase, so you keep what you find. The tour also provides access to the incredible 1904 Old Hundred Boarding House, perched on a sheer cliff 2,000 feet above the mine. Located just minutes from historic Silverton, our site is easily accessible by car and RV, with parking available and restrooms on-site. We accept credit cards and welcome families to explore the secret world of the gold miner without needing a reservation.
