One Mile Campground

One Mile Campground sits 18 miles from Gunnison in the Taylor River Canyon at an elevation of 8,600 feet. Single-family campsites feature electric hookups, picnic tables, and campfire rings, with several accessible options available. Shaded by lodgepole pine and aspen trees, the grounds offer cool nights during warm summer days. Visitors use vault toilets but must bring drinking water or fill up at the nearby Lottis Creek Campground. The Taylor River flows directly past the campground, providing calm stretches for rafting and kayaking as well as fishing for rainbow and brook trout. Nearby trailheads at Summerville and South Lottis lead to the Fossil Ridge Wilderness Area, while local off-road trails include Doctor Park, Taylor River, and Taylor Vista. Just 13 miles away, Taylor Park Reservoir offers boating, fishing, and swimming with boat rentals and a ramp. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis for in-person bookings.
