Palisade City Cemetery

Owned and operated by the Town of Palisade under Board of Trustees authority, this municipal cemetery serves as a final resting place for residents with grounds open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Public Works Foreman acts as the Cemetery Superintendent, overseeing interments and disinterments in accordance with Ordinance 233. Burials require a vault, which must be purchased separately from funeral homes or memorial providers, and cremains may share existing plots with a limit of ten sets per grave. The cemetery remains closed for burials on major holidays including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Funerals occurring after 5 p.m on weekdays or weekends incur personnel overtime fees, provided notice is given at least ten working hours in advance. Applications for lot purchases, transfers, and assignments are processed through the Town Clerk's office, where plats detailing lot sizes and locations are available for preview. Historical records from June 15, 1968, govern ownership claims for lots not listed on the official plat, requiring proof of perpetual care payment.
