Pine River Lodge - Vallecito Lake

Since 1960, Pine River Lodge has served as a year-round mountain retreat in the Vallecito Lake Valley, just outside Durango. Our fully equipped cabins provide a home away from home for guests seeking adventure or relaxation in the San Juan National Forest. Each cabin features complete kitchens, air-conditioning, basic satellite TV, charcoal BBQ grills, and fire pits. We maintain an indoor heated pool open from May 1st through November 30th, along with a playground and central high-speed internet. Winter transforms the landscape into a snowy wonderland perfect for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing on the nearby Vallecito Nordic Ski Trail, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and sledding. We keep sleds on hand for guests to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. Downhill skiers can reach Purgatory Ski Area or Wolf Creek Ski Area within a scenic 1.5-hour drive, while families often head into Durango for the indoor ice rink. Whether celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s or enjoying cool summer nights under the stars, our cabins offer a cozy base for exploring Vallecito Lake and the Rocky Mountains.
