Since 1956, the Montrose Recreation District has served the eastern half of Montrose County with year-round programming and extensive facilities. Our Community Rec Center at 16350 Woodgate Road features a lap pool with slide and diving boards, fitness classes, free and machine weight equipment, and an indoor walking track. We also maintain racquetball, basketball, and volleyball courts, alongside a game center offering pool, foosball, ping pong, and shuffleboard. An indoor playground and child watch center support families, while our climbing wall adds another layer of activity for all ages. Beyond the Rec Center, we operate multiple indoor and outdoor facilities across our 500-square-mile district boundary, which extends from the city limits onto the Uncompahgre Plateau. Our staff organizes sports leagues for youth and adults, adaptive hybrid elite pickleball tournaments, summer enrichment programs, and a recreational swim team. The newly developed Montrose Field House is set to open in late 2027, adding even more space for community events and activities. With 33 employees on our core team and support from part-time staff, we ensure that residents have access to high-quality recreation throughout every season.
