Priest Lake Campground

Priest Lake Campground sits within the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, serving as a base for accessing over 3,500 miles of trails carved by indigenous peoples, early explorers, and miners. The facility features free wifi, ample parking, wheelchair accessibility, and a 24-hour front desk to support visitors exploring the region's rugged beauty. These forests extend over 3 million acres across 11 counties, offering activities such as downhill skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, hiking, cross-country skiing, fishing, backcountry camping, mountain biking, and off-highway vehicle use. The area’s history traces back to 1892 with the Battlement Mesa Forest Reserve, later merging with the Uncompahgre National Forest in 1954 and adding the Gunnison National Forest in 1973. Managed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service, the campground provides recreation maps and information for travelers seeking solitude and scenic views in the Western Slope.
