Perry and Lynne Lewis established Rimrock Outfitters in Mancos, Colorado, transforming a simple hourly horseback riding operation into a comprehensive trail riding destination positioned halfway between Durango and Mesa Verde National Park. Operating at an 8000-foot elevation in the foothills of the La Plata Mountains, the outfitter guides riders through San Juan National Forest terrain characterized by aspen, pine, and fir forests, alpine lakes, and open meadows with views of Mt. Hesperus. The remuda features mountain-bred horses matched to rider experience levels, accommodating guests from age six up to ninety years old. Beyond standard trail rides, the business offers specialized packages including breakfast and dinner rides, camping trips, pack trips, and sleigh rides. Perry Lewis, a Mancos Valley native with ranching and dude ranch experience, and Lynne Lewis, who brings decades of riding experience from Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico, lead the operation. The facility handles everything from intimate family outings to large corporate retreats, providing an authentic cowboy experience along the west fork of the Mancos River.
