Riverbottom Park

The Montrose Water Sports Park opened in 2013 along the Uncompahgre River, a project funded by a $259,384 grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO). Developed through collaboration between the Montrose Recreation District, Montrose County, and the city, the facility was selected by citizens as a top priority during the Uncompahgre Riverway Master Plan process. The park features a dedicated whitewater park area alongside nearly 2,000 feet of concrete trail and 1,900 feet of soft-surface trail for hiking and biking. Upstream of the sports area, compensatory aquatic habitat improvements include re-graded river channels and riffle-pool-glide sequences designed to increase fish populations. The site is equipped with restrooms, parking, and signage, making it a family-friendly destination for water enthusiasts and trail users alike.
