Eight pairs of handcrafted skis emerged from Morgan Weinberg’s garage in the winter of 2010, marking the humble origins of Romp Skis before it grew into a Crested Butte factory staple. Today, we operate out of 420 Belleview, where the hum of production meets a showroom dedicated to creative, skier-centric innovation. Our mission remains rooted in crafting tools for those who chase the joy of gliding through powder, blending aggressive intent with playful soul. A standout in our custom program is the WU-Tail Assassin, a limited-run powder-focused shape featuring a distinctive swallow tail design. This unique tail introduces additional torsional flex, creating a reactive, energetic feel that floats with power and pivots effortlessly through steep spines and low-angle trees. The brand’s story evolved when founder Morgan Weinberg sought a new partner in the 2023, 24 season, leading Chase Gardaphe to purchase Romp Skis in spring 2024. Chase, who spent his 20s ski bumming in Crested Butte working in rental and tuning shops, now brings fresh perspective in sales and marketing while maintaining our commitment to handcrafted quality. Visitors are welcome to tour our production facility, witness the magic from wood core creation to final finishing touches, and explore the artistry behind every pair of skis we build.
