Silverton Visitors Center

Managed by the Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce through a yearly contract with the Town of Silverton, this information hub serves travelers exploring the San Juan Mountains. The center offers local and area literature alongside guidance from qualified staff for visitors seeking maps and brochures. Operating hours shift with the seasons: during winter months of January through March, guests can stop by Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Summer schedules run Tuesday through Saturday, covering May through September and half of October, maintaining the same 10am to 3pm window. The facility remains closed during April, November, and December, as well as the other half of October. Beyond providing travel information, the center serves as a mailing point for the community, with PO Box 565 handling postal mail and packages from FedEx or UPS. The building reflects Silverton’s identity as a mining town that transitioned into tourism, honoring the land of the Wiinuuchi band of Utes while showcasing a history that began with Charles Baker’s 1860 gold and silver discoveries along the Animas River.
