Skyward Mountaineering

Founded in 1996 and based in the San Juan mountains, Skyward Mountaineering operates as a year-round guiding service with a Grand Junction base. Our team of AMGA Certified Guides specializes in customized rock climbing, ice climbing, alpine climbing, and backcountry skiing itineraries across Colorado, Utah, Washington, Alaska, and internationally. We focus on delivering industry-leading safety standards and elite instruction for clients ranging from beginners to advanced alpinists. Featured offerings include multipitch trad climbing in Black Canyon of the Gunnison, crack climbing techniques on the sandstone splitters of Indian Creek and Moab, and remote expeditions in the North Cascades. We also provide structured clinics, such as a two-day rock climbing course focusing on jamming and off-width techniques, and a five-day mountaineering course designed to build self-sufficiency in glaciated terrain. Our goal is to help you develop the skills and confidence to tackle steep descents and complex alpine terrain safely.
