Telluride Historical Museum

Ten themed rooms filled with artifacts from the region’s Ute heritage, mining history, and ski culture define the Telluride Historical Museum. Situated on North Fir Street in Telluride, this institution preserves the area's past through engaging annual exhibitions and a permanent collection that spans from early indigenous life to modern festival traditions. Interactive displays invite visitors of all ages to explore hands-on, ensuring each visit offers something new alongside the classic exhibits under glass. Beyond the building's walls, the museum extends its educational reach through historic walking tours of Telluride, Fireside Chat lectures, and Hike into History programs that explore the high country. The facility operates seasonally from June through October, with adjusted hours during the winter months, and offers free admission to locals on Saturdays. Admission fees are $9 for adults and $6 for students and seniors, while children five and under enter free. The museum’s mission focuses on bringing history to life through these diverse programs, making it a central hub for understanding the rich, colorful story of San Miguel County.
