About
Courtney’s first Blue Beryl wine, a light fruit-forward Malbec, debuted in 2019 after she apprenticed at Hermosa Vineyards and returned home to Palisade. Perched at the base of Mt. Garfield, The Blue Beryl Winery crafts traditional dry wines from estate-grown grapes, blending local character with a distinct regional twist. The boutique operation is defined by its mother-daughter team, with Courtney overseeing every stage from vineyard to bottle. Vines were planted in 2011, and her background in oil painting from Colorado State University translates directly into the winery’s identity, as she paints the artwork for each wine label herself. The estate sits on land where Courtney grew up, allowing her to infuse the wines with a sense of place and humble beginnings. The Blue Beryl, or aquamarine, was designated Colorado’s state gemstone in 1971, a name chosen to reflect the stone’s association with happiness and youthfulness, mirroring the experience of enjoying the wine and the expansive views from the sunshine-filled tasting room.
