Founded in 2009, The Grief Center of Southwest Colorado provides comprehensive bereavement services to families across La Plata, San Juan, Montezuma, Archuleta, and Dolores counties. We meet the needs of bereaved members regardless of cultural or religious beliefs, manner of death, relationship to the deceased, and ability to pay. Our network of specialists offers individual and group therapy for children, teens, and adults experiencing loss, including traumatic events such as death, incarceration, deportation, and life-altering diagnoses. We utilize multi-modal interventions to support family systems, including foster children and their families, while providing school-based grief counseling and therapeutic support groups. Our programming extends to special initiatives for bereaved children, summer grief camps for adolescents, parenting programs, and peer support groups for survivors of suicide and substance-related deaths. We also offer pre- and neo-natal loss support, anticipatory grief services, and on-call intervention response for schools and community organizations. As a legal Colorado nonprofit corporation designated as tax-exempt by the federal government, we ensure that all donations directly support these services. Our resource library contains books, films, audio materials, and written resources for sharing. We organize community workshops on grief, loss, and trauma-informed care to help our neighbors navigate their healing journeys.
