The Slogar

Family-style fried chicken has been the heartbeat of The Slogar for well over 40 years, a tradition Ian and Ayla Scott continue to honor after acquiring this historic Crested Butte institution in 2018. Ian, a classically trained French chef with experience at The Sunflower and Luke in New Orleans, leads the kitchen, while Ayla, our Cocktail Fairy, curates a unique, one-of-a-kind revolving cocktail and mocktail menu alongside an extensive wine list. The dining experience is a generous three-course journey: you begin with tomato chutney, cottage cheese, coleslaw, and a Cezar salad, followed by a choice of fried chicken, ribs, ribeye, filet, or a veggie stuffed pepper. Bottomless sides of mashed potatoes, creamed corn, gravy, baking powder biscuits, honey butter, and jam ensure leaving hungry is not an option. We finish the meal with a classic ice cream sammie. For those preferring a quicker bite, the Parlour menu offers a smaller version of the second course at the bar on a first-come, first-served basis. Our space is defined by delicious soul food, laughter, and conversation, making it a beloved gathering place for locals and visitors alike. If you are lucky, you might even spot Jerry or Miss Pearl, our two Frenchies, wandering the patio.
