The Storm Cellar

Jayme and Steve launched The Storm Cellar in 2017, transforming a neglected vineyard plot in Hotchkiss into a Colorado Wine of the Year winner. The winery specializes exclusively in crisp, aromatic white and rosé wines, crafted from classic European varieties and cold-hardy hybrids grown in Western Colorado’s high-desert terroir. Operating as both a vineyard and winery, the couple manages every aspect of production, from regenerative farming practices like rotational grazing to the final bottling. Visitors gather in their outdoor tasting room, which overlooks the verdant farmland of the North Fork Valley, for intimate guided tastings or elaborate chef-hosted wine dinners. The business maintains a wine club that provides members with early access to events, generous discounts, and first dibs on new releases. Open Thursday through Sunday from noon to 7 p.m., the Storm Cellar showcases elegant wines defined by complexity and finesse, reflecting the couple’s background as sommeliers who traded city life for the West Elks AVA.
