The TANK Center For Sonic Arts

The TANK Center For Sonic Arts stands as Rangely’s unique audio laboratory, a place where sound itself becomes the primary material. We preserve and share this distinctive facility for musicians, sound artists, educators, and local residents, treating the space not merely as a room but as a giant instrument. Our work centers on professional recording sessions, available both on-site and remotely, while we also open our doors twenty-four times a year for open-house Saturdays. These sessions invite visitors to explore and experiment with our distinct acoustics. We host free concerts and two multi-day ticketed events annually, creating opportunities for the community to engage with sonic arts directly. Artist residencies and university partnerships allow creators to immerse themselves in our environment, while our educational programs connect resident artists with local school students. We employ local residents as engineers, who in turn train teens to take their first steps into sound engineering, ensuring the craft stays within the town. Beyond the walls of the center, we bring visitors to explore Rangely’s rural businesses, integrating our sonic work with the local economy. Supported by the generosity of donors, we operate as a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting this transformative space for future generations.
