The Trailhead Children's Museum

Founded in 2008 by local families seeking indoor play options during long Crested Butte winters, The Trailhead Children's Museum has evolved from a temporary solution into a permanent fixture on Elk Avenue. After relocating through several semi-permanent spaces and navigating the closure of its previous home at the Center for the Arts, the museum settled into its current location in early 2023, reopening its doors to the public that June. The space is designed for open-ended exploration, featuring play-based programs that allow children of all ages and abilities to set their own pace. Parents and caregivers find a dedicated environment away from household distractions, while the museum itself focuses on fostering lifelong learning through discovery. The facility hosts regular events, including a scheduled Big Summer Bash Concert on July 17, providing a joyful gathering point for the community. Accessible and equipped with parking, the museum continues to serve as a creative hub for local and visiting families.
