Three Rivers Resort & Outfitting

Founded in 1914 as Watzling’s Resort, our historic mountain retreat sits on the banks of the Taylor River in Almont, just a short walk from where the Taylor and East Rivers converge to form the Gunnison River. The Schumacher family now welcomes guests to a property that has grown from four rustic cabins and a general store serving local miners into a sprawling 61-cabin resort featuring 12 RV sites, a dance hall, and an outdoor pavilion. We provide lodging options ranging from historic cabins to brand-new homes with private hot tubs and fireplaces, as well as lodge rooms above our general store, all designed to offer the peace and beauty of Colorado mountain living. Our on-site outfitting shops, including an Orvis Fly Shop, staff the most experienced guides in the Gunnison and Crested Butte area for whitewater rafting, fly fishing, and kayaking. We also help book winter adventures like downhill skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort and Monarch Mountain, cross-country skiing on 55 kilometers of groomed trails at Crested Butte Nordic, ice fishing, and snowmobiling. Conveniently located between Gunnison and Crested Butte, we offer easy access to exceptional hiking, mountain biking, and cultural events, ensuring every guest finds their perfect activity.
